For over 30 years, our founding executives have provided the vision and knowledge that drives results for our stakeholders.
Dr. Mohamed Azzam, like his longtime classmate and colleague, Dr. Elgammal, holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Cairo University, as well as a Master’s and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining G.A. Paper, Dr. Azzam has held academic positions at universities in Canada and Saudi Arabia. His strong academic background and keen business sense saw him appointed as a senior member of the research and development departments of Xerox, Gulf Oil and Petro-Canada. He currently serves as G.A. Paper’s corporate Vice-President and President of the containerboard division.
Dr. Ibrahim Elgammal is a graduate from Cairo University, having completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Furthering his studies, he then went on to complete his PhD in the same discipline from the University of Waterloo, where he also earned his Master’s in Management Science. Dr. Elgammal subsequently went on to hold several teaching positions at some of Canada’s and Egypt’s most prestigious educational institutions, before eventually accepting the role of Manager of Research and Development at 3M Canada.
His life-long passion for international business and trade saw Dr. Elgammal branch out on his own, starting his first business, ORIAC, which focused on general trading. In 1986, Dr. Elgammal sought to develop expertise in one specific industry, and chose pulp and paper as a result. G.A. Paper International was born.
To this day, Dr Elgammal remains actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, as G.A. Paper’s corporate President.
“Pursue your passion and you will be successful and satisfied.”
Nermine Elgammal holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Cairo University, as well as a Master’s in Comparative Literature from The American University in Cairo. In 1986, she co-founded G.A. Paper with Dr. Elgammal, and served as its Treasurer and Corporate Secretary until 2010. Ms. Elgammal continues to lead G.A. Paper’s community efforts to this day.
